Summary: For privacy, prevent Microsoft Word 2003 from remembering the most recently-used filenames.
When you click the “File” menu in Microsoft Word 2003, a list of your most recently-accessed files are displayed. This is convenient in that if you repeatedly modify the same file, you can access it here without browsing your machine through Explorer.
However, if several people share your machine, you may not want them to see the filenames you recently modified, especially if you access networked or removable media. For this and other privacy reasons, you can prevent Word 2003 from remembering these filenames.
1. Click “Tools” – “Options”.
2. When the “Options” multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the “General” tab.
3, Uncheck “Recently used file list”.
4. Click “OK” to close the dialog box.
