When you paste text (except plain-text from Notepad or other editors) in Word 2003, it may display a Paste Options button, a square icon next to the pasted text showing a clipboard and piece of paper. Click this icon and Word 2003 will show options allowing you to change the formatting of the pasted text from rich-text to plain. While some may find this convenient in case they want to paste text containing lots of formatting code as just plain-text, others find this icon annoying. To get rid of the Paste Options button:
1. Click “Tools” then “Options”.
2. When the “Options” multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the “Edit” tab.
3. Uncheck “Show Paste Option buttons”.
4. Click “OK” to close the dialog box.
