Microsoft Word 2003 Date and Time - Display the Document Print Date

When creating large documents in Microsoft Word 2003 that need to be proofread by a large group of people, some groups eschew document collaboration tools and prefer to look at hard copies. Thus, it may prove beneficial to add text inside your documents containing the time and date they were last printed. This may aid in keeping track of revisions by noting which people are looking through newer versions of the documents than others.

1. Click "Insert", selecting "Field".

2. When the "Field" dialog box appears, underneath "Field Names", scroll down and click on "PrintDate".

Adding the "PrintDate" field to a Microsoft Word 2003 document.

3. Underneath "Date Formats", choose how you wish the time and/or date to be displayed.

4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.

This adds a field to your document that should automatically update whenever you re-print the document.

Press the "print" button on your browser or select "File" - "Print" to print this tip. Then, return to Microsoft Word 2003 Date and Time - Display the Document Print Date.
