Microsoft Word 2003 Pictures and WordArt - Speed up Displaying Documents with Many Graphics

When you scroll through large and complex Word 2003 documents containing many pictures, especially if you have a slower computer or if you are multitasking with other software packages open, Word may refresh the page slowly. To offset this, instead of displaying pictures in your document, you can instead show placeholders that take up the space of the picture yet speed up the document display.

1. Click "Tools", choosing "Options".
2. When the "Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, select the "View" tab.
3. Under "Show", check "Picture placeholders".
4. Press "OK" to close the dialog box.

Press the "print" button on your browser or select "File" - "Print" to print this tip. Then, return to Microsoft Word 2003 Pictures and WordArt - Speed up Displaying Documents with Many Graphics.
