SUMMARY: Disable pop-up ScreenTips in PowerPoint 2010 if you don’t find them at all useful.
By default, when you hover your mouse pointer over most on-screen elements inMicrosoft PowerPoint 2010 such as buttons, checkboxes, input boxes, etc., pop-up ScreenTips appear. These may describe an element’s function, display dialog box thumbnails, or show keyboard shortcuts.
While many find these ScreenTips helpful, other more experienced users may find them a minor distraction as they move from one GUI element to the next and accidentally leave their cursor on one too long. Thus they can be disabled.
1. Select the “File” tab in the Ribbon.
2. The Microsoft Office Backstage View appears. Click the “Options” button.
(Or instead of steps 1 and 2, press Alt + T, then the letter O.)
3. The “PowerPoint Options” dialog box appears. Click “General” in the left pane if it is not already selected.
4. Underneath “User Interface options”, next to “ScreenTip style”, click the pull-down and choose “Don’t show ScreenTips”.
5. Click “OK” on the bottom-right of the dialog box to close it.
